Russian propaganda claims a French surgeon was murdered to silence him over alleged revelations about Brigitte Macron’s gender

CLAIM: Surgeon François Faivre who announced Brigitte Macron’s transgender transformation found dead in Paris – Enquete du jour.

CONCLUSION: The claim originated from a website created just five days before the story was published. It was subsequently amplified by pro-Russian online channels. The video consists of a mix of authentic and AI-generated content. The claim that Brigitte Macron, wife of the French President, was born male is a conspiracy theory that has been circulating for years.

According to the false reports, French surgeon François Faivre, 58, was found dead on June 29, 2025, after falling from the window of his apartment in Paris. His sister, Anne Dupont, reportedly disputes the suicide ruling by police, implying that his death may be linked to an upcoming interview in which he intended to reveal sensitive information regarding Brigitte Macron’s alleged gender transition, based on records from Dr. Patrick Bouilly.

The claim circulated with an accompanying video on known Russian propaganda sites like EADaily, Komsomolskaya Pravda, and the Pravda/Portal Kombat network. It also spread widely via X/Twitter, accumulating millions of views.

All sources trace the claim to the website enquetedujour.fr and its article dated July 1, 2025. This website had only a few prior posts, starting from June 27. Using the tool whois.com, it was confirmed that the domain was registered on June 25, 2025. This means the site was created on June 25, started posting on June 27, and fabricated this story by July 1, a mere five-day span.

A Google search for the name François Faivre leads first to a report by franceinfo.fr, which confirms that no such doctor exists. Their “Vrai ou Faux” section revealed that the video and article are fabrications.

The article went viral on social media, especially on X, gaining close to one million views. It includes a deepfake video of a man claiming to be Dr. Faivre, alleging he was a colleague of the surgeon who performed operations on Brigitte Macron. The video shows clear signs of AI generation: unnaturally smooth skin, no blinking, a flat and emotionless tone, and inconsistencies in the background.
Even more troubling, the names of five real journalists, including Audrey Parmentier, were used to lend credibility to the fake article. These individuals had no involvement with the website and are now considering legal action. All of them are professional journalists affiliated with legitimate media outlets like Le Monde and Streetpress, and their reputations are now at risk due to this false association.
This method, impersonating real people to publish fake news, is reminiscent of known tactics in pro-Russian disinformation campaigns, particularly the “Storm-1516” operation identified by Viginum, France’s agency for monitoring foreign interference.

For reasons of comparison with the data we will present below, you can see the under examination video on our account on X, where we uploaded it to be preserved.

At the beginning of the video, we see scenes with police and ambulances in an outdoor area. We extracted a screenshot (left) to perform a reverse image search via Google Lens. We found that these scenes come from a video (right) that circulated in October 2022 and is not related to the alleged suicide of the doctor.

Subsequently, using the tool HIVE AI, the the image originating from the video, of the doctor’s sister, appears to have been created with artificial intelligence at an 98,2% likelihood.

Regarding the “doctor who committed suicide,” as franceinfo.fr also points out, his face is unusually smooth, while he does not appear to blink his eyes at all.

In parallel, using the tool HIVE AI, for the excerpt of the “doctor’s” speech, we are informed that the video has likely been created with AI, with an 89.2% probability.

The claim that Brigitte Macron, the wife of the French president, was born male is a conspiracy theory that has been circulating for several years. It had gained more visibility in 2021, when Brigitte Macron proceeded with a lawsuit against two women who had uploaded a video on YouTube, where they promoted this claim. The two women were sentenced to pay a fine. Even Macron himself was forced to speak and express his disgust for these rumors. The conspiracy theory had been further amplified when it was expressed on the show of the conservative host Candace Owens, who has in the past promoted other conspiracy theories.

Conclusion

The claim started from a website that was created five days before it published it. Subsequently, it was spread by pro-Russian channels on the internet. The video is a montage of real and created with artificial intelligence excerpts. The claim that Brigitte Macron, the wife of the French president, was born male is a conspiracy theory that has been circulating for several years.
